Exciting and special river moments with VIVA Cruises

When the captain weighs anchor at the latest, that's when you start to feel at home - according to many of our guests, some of whom have been traveling the most beautiful rivers in Europe with us for several years. And a river cruise in winter is no exception: whether the tranquil nature of passing landscapes, the twinkling lights of the next town or the relaxed retreat to a cozy cabin after a day full of cultural discoveries: Look forward to exciting and relaxing river moments. Because both await you on our theme-cruises in 2025.

For example, a short trip to the many cultural treasures of the Netherlands and Belgium - or something completely different: a crime thriller cruise to Berlin or Düsseldorf, where renowned authors will make you forget time and space with a murderous reading. Cast off and unwind on our wellness cruises, on the other hand, where an included massage awaits you on board the VIVA ENJOY from January to March.

City Highlights

Düsseldorf

Düsseldorf

Rhenish lifestyle between tradition and modernity - Düsseldorf inspires with diversity! Here art and culture lovers get just as enthusiastic as shopping enthusiasts, here the Media Harbor impresses with contemporary architecture as well as the historic Old Town. The old town makes Düsseldorf with more than 250 cozy pubs to the "longest bar in the world". The traditional Altbier is not the only tasty thing here! A stroll along the Königsallee, the world-famous strolling mile, is something one does not want to miss - or rather a visit to one of the numerous sympathetic flea markets? And in the middle of it all: lots of Green and the Rhine with its riverside promenade to breathe easy . No wonder the VIVA Cruises family feels right at home here!

Coblenz

Coblenz

Koblenz already impresses with its unique location at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. The first port of call when visiting the city should therefore also be the so-called "German Corner" with its imposing Kaiser Wilhelm monument. Since 2002, it has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Upper Middle Rhine Valley". A beautiful view of Koblenz and its two rivers opens up during a visit to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. Perched 120 meters above the Rhine, the 16th-century fortification is the second largest fortress still standing in Europe. Spectacular is already the ascent in a gondola of the cable car.

.
Antwerp

The heart of Flanders beats in Antwerp, the internationallen center of the diamond trade. And when it comes to finest chocolaterie and the lively cultural scene, it beats thateven a little faster. The home of numerous fashioncreators, painters and musicians was 400 years ago the largest city in Europe and testifies with its historic city center of a magnificent past: a look into the hall of the Main Station or to the luxury department store "Stadsfeestzaal" well worth it! Nijmegen

Nijmegen

The oldest city in the Netherlands exudes a quaint Dutch flair with its gabled houses, small cheese shops and delicacies on the "Grote Markt". In the narrow streets, yesterday and today go hand in hand. Therefore, a visit to the Gothic St. Stevenskerk, including the burial cellar, as well as a stroll along the shopping street "Lange Hezelstraat" should be on the sightseeing plan. With freshly fried Kibbelingen in the wintry Kronenburgerpark can be perfectly paused afterwards.

.
Brussels

Brussels

Manneken Pis or Atomium? Then they have arrived in Belgium's capital Brussels! The Manneken Pis is a fountain figure made of bronze, which is only about half a meter tall, but has been delighting people since 1650. In addition to the ancient buildings, Brussels is also known for its culinary, especially its fine chocolates, which are available in numerous chocolatiers. If enough buildings have been visited and the sweets extensively tested, a relaxing day can only be rounded off by a delicious beer. There are plenty of them in Brussels and as a beer lover you can choose your favorite beer from a selection of over 1,000 types. Whether Manneken Pis, Chocolatier or Leffe Blonde - in Brussels you will find everything your heart desires.

.
Amsterdam

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is one of those cities that every traveler should have visited at least once in his life. No wonder, millions and millions of tourists flock to the city on the canals every year to enjoy the flood of sights and cultural offerings. The best way to discover Amsterdam is by taking a boat ride along the canals or a walk along the unique canals. Art lovers will be immediately drawn to one of the world-famous museums, such as the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum or the Van Gogh Museum. Party people will find their happiness in the nightlife and red light district De Wallen. And beer drinkers should by no means miss the Heineken Experience.

Frankfurt

Frankfurt

Connected to the Danube via the Main-Danube Canal, Frankfurt is one of the most unique cities in Germany. After all, it is the only city with a skyline of skyscrapers. A view of the metropolis from the observation deck of the MAIN TOWER is a very special experience. However, Frankfurt is not only a very modern and busy city, but also has a lot of history to offer its visitors. For example, the Römer and the Paulskirche are among the most famous historical sights in Germany. And when it comes to art and culture, Frankfurt is also an absolute hotspot. With almost 40 museums and exhibition houses, the Frankfurt Museumsufer is one of the most important international museum locations.

.
Cologne

Cologne

Cologne is an independent city in North Rhine-Westphalia, which is one of the few cities in the Federal Republic of Germany with over a million inhabitants. The Cologne Cathedral is the landmark of the city, which is located directly on the banks of the Rhine and the main train station. A cable car runs across the Rhine, providing a fantastic view of the city. The local zoo and stadium are a real attraction for young and old. The carnival is an important part and is just as much a part of it as a typical brewery.

Strasbourg

Strasbourg

From the first minute, the French Strasbourg enchants with colorful half-timbered idyll, Wilhelminian splendor architecture,
new trendy neighborhoods and exciting museums. Even a short visit has a long-term effect thanks to the many inspirations! In the picturesque district of La Petite France, the moment can be enjoyed perfectly with a tarte flambée, before the imposing cathedral with stained glass windows and archways invites you to travel back in time to the Gothic period. Those who are free from giddiness should definitely take the 332 steps up to the viewing platform
here to see the Vosges and the Black Forest in the distance.

Berlin

Berlin

Berlin is the capital of the Federal Republic of Germany. Due to its great historical and contemporary significance, the city has many sights to offer.

First of all, some well-known landmarks should probably be mentioned here: The Brandenburg Gate, the TV tower and the Victory Column. In addition, all important government buildings are also located here: for example, the Reichstag with the famous Reichstag dome is definitely worth a visit. Furthermore, there are the sites of some important historical events to see, such as "Checkpoint Charlie" or the "East Side Gallery", a remnant of the Berlin Wall. There is also no lack of shopping opportunities, so among other things the Kurfürstendamm is very well known.

Minden

Minden

Minden is a picturesque city in the northeast of North Rhine-Westphalia with 81,000 inhabitants. The town with a long history nestles directly on the Weser River and has many buildings worth seeing in a small area. These date back to its past as a bishop's seat, a fortress town and a Hanseatic city with stacking rights. The cityscape is mainly characterized by the large cathedral with Gothic and Romanesque components, which was founded in the eighth century. Also worth seeing are the many half-timbered houses in the old town, especially in Hohe Strasse and Museum Row. Among the special features is also a coffee museum and a ship mill, which is located directly on the shore.
