The Highlights of our River Cruises
Germany and Austria - our Danube Highlights
There are regional highlights and unique places to discover on every VIVA Cruises route. Between Passau and Vienna on our legendary Danube cruise, for example, is the baroque Melk Abbey, also known as the "Gateway to the Wachau" and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Monks from the medieval Benedictine order still live here today and look after the ornate architecture. As the most liveable city in the world, Vienna also impresses with its elegant Art Nouveau style, which characterizes the entire city centre around the Danube harbour. Here, our passengers have time to contemplate the great spirits of the 19th and 20th centuries in cafés and museums and to experience the Viennese joie de vivre for themselves in the world-famous Wurstelprater amusement park.
On the trail of German history - our Rhine-Moselle routes
Cologne is one of the most historic cities in Germany and attracts families and singles around the medieval cathedral: Cologne Zoo, the Cologne Triangle viewing platform and the Cologne cable car are not far from the banks of the Rhine with Cologne Cathedral at its center. Our next stop at the mouth of the Rhine and Moselle is Koblenz, whose historic old town is dotted with traditional breweries and can also be admired from a bird's eye view at Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. The many highlights on our Rhine-Moselle cruises along the "Rhineland Tuscany" with its vineyards, castles and fortresses include countless museums and exhibitions that bring the medieval and Roman history of the Rhine-Moselle region to life.
